I’ve been coaching investors and founders for 8 years on issues they typically don’t talk about with anyone else.
Many of them will tell you their challenges are about the deal they can’t get through their partnership, the competition impacting their growth, the team that just doesn’t get it – and they are. What they won’t tell you is that they’re managing their partner’s opinion. That they’re spending more time worrying about competitors than talking to customers. That they expect their team to read their mind.
I’ve spent years inside the rooms where this plays out. First as a private equity investor. Then at Stanford GSB. Now as a Master Certified Coach.
I want you to be better at what you do. And I want you to be happier doing it.

SESSIONS

How It Works
Most sessions start with an issue.
A quarter where you miss plan and you’re convinced the business and your reputation are gone. A board deck where you put a budget number you don’t believe in. A partner dynamic you resent but keep showing up to the same way. A recurring worry about where you rank at the firm. A deal you bring to committee that you notice you both want to oversell and hedge your position on.
We talk about your issue.
Sometimes, we address it directly. We sharpen your fundraising pitch. We script talking points for a feedback conversation. We develop tools to hold you and your team accountable.
Often, though, we very quickly find that your issue isn’t what you thought it was. When we do, you may say things you wouldn’t say anywhere else. You may not recognize you’re doing it.
By the end of our session, you’ve usually gotten clarity – both on your strategic issue, and on what’s really driving it. You have a plan to address both. And, if we’ve done our jobs well, you’ll be able to resolve similar issues before they ever come up.

Jeff possesses an uncanny ability to understand the emotions and mentality of people comprehensively, which has allowed us to build a deeply trusting relationship that helps make doing uncomfortable things approachable. Having previously worked with Jeff in his private equity days, I already knew he was incredibly talented. When we started our coaching relationship, that took on a whole new meaning – Jeff quickly became one of the most important people in my life. I trust Jeff with my most important questions, and he always finds a way to exceed my expectations with thoughtfulness, care, and effective frameworks. His experience in investing, his business acumen, and his exposure at Stanford GSB makes his coaching particularly functional and impactful.

Jeff and I started working together when the business was just me; today we’ve grown to 55 employees, serving over 60 brands across the entire US. We truly wouldn’t have been able to do that without Jeff’s help. He’s been fantastic at coaching leadership and management, accelerating my progression from a player-coach to an executive and leader.

I have never met someone who, in my eyes, has found his calling as clearly as Jeff has. What I have come to appreciate most about working with Jeff are his superhuman listening skills and his kind, compassionate approach. Not only does Jeff listen attentively to what you say, but he has the unique ability to perceive what is being left unsaid and to ask the right questions that have prompted me to discover drivers of my thinking and decision-making that I was unaware of or had chosen to ignore. His questions-based approach – informed by his training as a certified coach, his business acumen, and his past career as an investor – has helped me not by providing answers, but by helping me to better understand myself.

My conversations with Jeff leave me feeling several steps ahead of where I was when we started. He constantly unearths deeper parts of the challenge I’m facing, allowing me not only to solve today’s issues, but also to set me up with an approach to become a stronger leader. The benefits have extended well beyond me – to my team, future employees, and personal relationships as well.

Jeff has an impeccable ability to uncover the drivers of problems I am facing. I regularly show up to sessions with a specific question or topic in mind only to finish the session having dug deeper into a completely different issue at the true root of what I am dealing with. Jeff shows up to sessions with compassion and wisdom, and he challenges me to ask the hard questions. I trust Jeff with my most difficult problems and biggest decisions, and he has improved the way I show up for myself, for the people in my life, and for my career.

Jeff has played an instrumental role in my journey from private equity to taking the leap into entrepreneurship. Without Jeff, I would not have been able to build the self-confidence required to make the jump. As a person of color, I appreciate Jeff because he knows that he was born with certain privileges and doesn’t try to dismiss that idea or act like it doesn’t exist. Jeff does his absolute best to acknowledge any cultural differences and, most importantly, learn about them.

Venture capital has a number of specific nuances and I was worried that it would take time for our sessions to be valuable. Given Jeff’s existing client base and professional experience, he quickly understood the industry well and we were digging into VC-specific topics from the get-go, far surpassing all of my expectations.

Jeff helps me manage everything from my raw emotions to evaluating career decisions to approaching interpersonal dynamics at work. Working with Jeff has made me cognizant of the holes in my logic, the mental leaps I am making and the false narratives that I am building to justify my actions.

Jeff is one of the most genuine people I have ever met. He has incredible business acumen and understands the mindset and pattern-matching skill sets that make for a strong investor and founder. He constantly educates himself – and shares that knowledge with me – on all topics regarding mindset, performance and coaching, and translates these learnings into tangible exercises that lead to development.

About Me
I’ve been an Executive Coach for the last 8 years. During that time, I’ve worked with 180+ leaders across 5,000+ coaching sessions. I’ve also led offsites for PE firms and startups across the US and internationally. I’m certified as a Master Certified Coach (MCC), which is the highest coaching certification available to coaches. I’m trained by CTI and the IFS Institute, and am heavily influenced by the work of the Conscious Leadership Group. I graduated from Stanford GSB and Pomona College, co-taught a class on private equity at Stanford Law School, and used to work in private equity and investment banking.
That’s the what. Here’s the why.
I’ve lived in the rooms where business and psychology intersect for 15 years. I’ve experienced the heart racing when it’s my turn to speak in investment committee. I’ve felt what it’s like when my business becomes the same thing as who I am, and have been elated when it works and devastated when it doesn’t. I’ve experienced how confident I am when a new client signs, and how down on myself I am when a deal I’m working on dies unexpectedly. I know firsthand how important it is to be great at doing the work in front of me, how important it is to be right in my mind, and how critical it is to address both simultaneously.
As I was set to graduate from Stanford, my life got turned upside down. The woman I was engaged to get married to, Molly, passed away in a tragic accident. No matter how successful my career would be, I realized that nothing I accomplished would ever make me feel good enough to overcome the hole in my heart. So instead, I chose to do something I knew I would be proud of independent of how “successful” it was – to start a coaching practice that helps investors and founders, the people I know best, do their best work.
Outside of work, I’m passionate about music (I’ve played guitar for 20 years and have seen 45 Allman Brothers Band concerts), travel (50+ countries), skiing, and hiking. I’m also mildly obsessed with morning routines (I’ve had one daily for 7 years). I grew up just outside New York City, make annual pilgrimages to Sun Valley, Idaho, and live in Miami Beach with my wife, Jocelyn, and our son, Adam.
